Mental health screening self-assessments
Screening self-assessments describe how you have been feeling over a recent period, using item styles adapted from published research scales. They are educational tools. They cannot diagnose a condition, and no result here is a medical opinion.

What screening means — and what it does not
In clinical practice, a screening questionnaire is one input among many. A clinician combines it with history, context, duration of symptoms and a conversation before reaching any conclusion. On its own, a questionnaire cannot separate a difficult month from a diagnosable condition.
That distinction matters here. These assessments are self-administered, unsupervised and educational. They sit in a different category from clinically validated instruments administered by a professional, and a different category again from a diagnostic assessment.
Who these assessments are for
People who want to put structure around something they have already noticed, and people preparing for a conversation with a doctor who would find it useful to describe their experience in concrete terms.
How results are calculated
Each item is scored on a five-point scale, reverse-keyed items are flipped, and the total is expressed as a percentage and mapped to a descriptive band. The bands describe the intensity of what you reported. They are not clinical thresholds and they do not correspond to any diagnostic criteria.
What to do with your result
If your result surprises or worries you, take it to a professional rather than to the internet. A GP is a reasonable first stop almost everywhere. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency service or a crisis line immediately — this site is not a substitute for that.
Limitations
Self-report screening tools over-identify and under-identify in both directions. Mood affects how you answer questions about mood. A single low score does not rule anything out, and a single high score does not establish anything.
Frequently asked questions
Can an online test diagnose anxiety or depression?
No. Diagnosis requires a qualified professional who can assess duration, context and history. These assessments describe what you reported and nothing more.
Are these the same as the GAD-7 or PHQ-9?
No. Our items are written in the style of published screening scales and reference that literature, but they are not those instruments and are not scored against their clinical cut-offs.
Is my result private?
Yes. Results are stored against your account only, protected by database-level access rules, and are never indexed by search engines or shared with third parties.

- What is a psychometric test?
The word covers everything from a five-minute personality questionnaire to a supervised cognitive exam. The differences matter more than the label.
- Are personality tests scientifically valid?
The honest answer is: some are, to a degree, for specific purposes. Anything more confident than that is marketing.
